Burgundy Okra

Description

Pods and stems are a beautiful, deep-red colour. Very tender and delicious. Highly ornamental and tasty. Extremely productive plant with good heat tolerance, when everything else in the garden is burning up due to the summer heat, this plant will just be kicking into production. Be sure to harvest daily because the more you harvest, the more productive the plants are. Pods can get extremely long (upwards of 15cm) without becoming woody and bees just love the flowers. 55 days.

Delicious canned, fried, frozen, turns dark green when cooked. Try blanching the pods whole, cutting the stem end off, dipping in egg, rolling in a seasoned, cornmeal/flour mix and deep frying the pods whole.
